Keeping Our Family up to date

This has been one of my main objectives from the start. Also finding new relatives, however distantly related, that we never knew about before.

This all started about forty years ago when I asked my Mother where we came from. As a child I knew my parents, and my Grandparents and many Aunts and Uncles. I was even fortunate enough to know a Great-Grandmother, my Grandfather's Mother on my Mother's side of the family. Her name was Matilda A. (Riseling) Bowers and she was born in 1856.

My Mother told me she did not know, but she knew someone who did know and the next time she visited Pennsylvania (we were living in Canton, Ohio at the time), she would find out. She was talking about my Aunt Anna Elizabeth (Bossler) Smith who lived in Roaring Spring, Pa. That was about 1970 and my mother brought back from that visit, a two inch stack of papers that  effectively took the Bossler line of our family back to about 1500.

So that was quite a start. Al I had to do was fill in the blanks from there on.

Then I starting asking questions of my wife's family, The Merriman's, I found almost immediately had originally spelled their name with a "y" or Merryman.

My wife's maternal side was Nussbaum and had emmigrated from Switzerland in the latter 1800's.
